Become a Friend of the NSKA

Are you a lover of string quartet music and do you think it is important that young talent can develop further in this? Then become a Friend of the NSKA!

Many composers wrote their most personal works for the string quartet. It requires complete dedication and in-depth specialization from musicians to do full justice to this music in all its beauty and nuances. The NSKA offers young talent a tailor-made education and forms the springboard for them to national and international stages.

In addition to an intensive teaching program supervised by Marc Danel (primarius Quatuor Danel), monthly masterclasses are given by internationally renowned guest teachers. The NSKA also organizes workshops in the field of string quartet analysis, stage presentation and cultural entrepreneurship.

As a Friend of the NSKA, you help build new generations of string quartets. You will also have the opportunity to follow their development closely.

‘If it is already difficult for young instrumentalists to build a career, it is even more difficult for young string quartets. It starts with the fact that in order to really play together and build a repertoire, many hours of study and practice together have to be invested before a single note can be played in public. And where do you find the teachers and coaches who can help you with this? The NSKA has been providing answers to these questions and problems for more than 20 years, and has thus acquired an indispensable place in Dutch musical life. In the coming impoverishment of the Dutch art world, in which young artists in particular have to take the blows, we may hope that the NSKA can survive for at least another decade. I hope that all those who see the importance of this will support or continue to support this institute.’
